Brief history
In Italian, “Gelato means, “frozen”. Although it’s history goes all the way back to ancient Egypt, the “Gelato” is attributed to Italian Florentine inventor Bernardo Bountalenti who in 1565 presented his first frozen dessert to Catalina de Medici, who in turn started to offer them to her guests at the court’s banquets. Later on, in 1686, the first frozen dessert machine was invented.
